An indulgent chocolate mousse, which would be a perfect dessert for a festive menu. As this is very rich , most people will only want a small serving – well, at first!

gin chocolate orange mousse

Prep time: 10 mins (plus 1hr chilling)

Serves 4


  • 1 large ripe avocado
  • 100g vegan orange chocolate
  • 50ml coconut cream
  • 50ml gin


  • Add coconut cream to broken chocolate pieces and melt, either using a heatproof bowl suspended over a pan of boiling water – stirring gently until chocolate melts, or in the microwave by putting onto high temperature for 30 seconds, stir and put back onto heat 20 seconds at a time until melted – be careful not to overcook
  • Set aside chocolate to cool
  • Mash avocado in a bowl
  • Gently mix in chocolate to avocado to form a smooth mousse
  • Add gin if desired
  • Spoon into ramekin and refrigerate for an hour to cool and set
  • Serve with orange zest
